The Swedish international has opted to move to the North East on a Bosman transfer after leaving relegated Birmingham City.
A host of clubs including Arsenal, Aston Villa, Fulham, Newcastle and Blackburn have shown an interest.
But Larsson has opted instead to link-up again with Steve Bruce, who originally signed him at St Andrews.
Larsson arrived on Wearside on Tuesday, ahead of finalising the deal - although he will not officially become a Sunderland player until 1st July.
