Micky Adams is hoping to complete the signing of Simon Morgan next week after the Fulham midfielder was released by Jean Tigana yesterday.
Adams has made no secret of his interest in Morgan, who has rejected the chance to stay at Craven Cottage in a coaching capacity because he reckons he still has at least another year of football left in him.
The Seagulls boss knows the 34-year-old well from his time as manager of the west London outfit and it is believed the player is keen on linking up with former Fulham pals Richard Carpenter and Danny Cullip at The Withdean Stadium.
However, Adams does face competition from Wycombe and Brentford for his signature and has some more negotiating to do before he can name Morgan as his first signing of the summer.
Adams said: "I have spoken with Simon and he is very keen on joining us but his figures and mine don't match at the moment and I'm sure he'll be talking to other clubs as well."
